چکیده

Abstract Purpose Percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) is a routine operation for the treatment of osteoporotic lumbar compression fractures (OLCFs). As well known, unilateral puncture common method. However, with conventional transpedicular approach (CTPA), cement may be asymmetrically dispersed, so some surgeons use transverse process root-pedicle (TPRPA). The objective this study was to compare clinical results and bone distribution PVP OLCF TPRPA CTPA identify advantages disadvantages two surgical options. Patients methods From January 2016 June 2019, seventy-two elderly patients who underwent single-level were retrospectively reviewed. Operation time, injection amount type distribution, leakage complications recorded. visual analog scale (VAS) scores Oswestry disability index (ODI) used evaluate results. All followed up more than 12 months, assessment based primarily on radiological outcomes. Results There significant differences in time volume lost operative vertebra height between groups. there no difference leakage. Moreover, VAS ODI groups at 2 days months after operation. Conclusions Unilateral are practical feasible OLCF, they have similar effects. has better shorter maintenance effect injured height, without increasing rate

Leakage of cement in percutaneous transpedicular vertebroplasty for painful osteoporotic compression fractures.

e analysed the CT scans and radiographs of 76 vertebrae in 49 patients who underwent vertebroplasty for painful osteoporotic compression fractures. Leaks of cement were classified into three types: those via the basivertebral vein (type B), via the segmental vein (type S), and through a cortical defect (type C). More leaks were identified on CT scans than on radiographs by a factor of 1.5 (74/4...

Percutaneous vertebroplasty for osteoporotic compression fractures using calcium phosphate cement.

PURPOSE To compare percutaneous transpedicular vertebroplasty using calcium phosphate cement (CPC) versus conservative treatment for osteoporotic vertebral fractures. METHODS Eight men and 28 women aged 61 to 99 (mean, 80) years with osteoporotic vertebral fractures underwent percutaneous transpedicular vertebroplasty using CPC. During the same period, 6 men and 32 women aged 53 to 93 (mean, ...

STUDY DESIGN Single-center, single-arm, prospective time-series study. OBJECTIVE To assess the cost-effectiveness and improvement in quality of life (QOL) of percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP). SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA PVP is known to relieve back pain and increase QOL for osteoporotic compression fractures. However, the economic value of PVP has never been evaluated in Japan where univers...

Percutaneous Vertebroplasty for the Treatment of Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures

One hundred and fifty-six patients with 263 compression fractures and suffering from disabling back pain refractory to analgesic therapy were treated and included in this study. The age of the subjects ranged from 42 to 94 years (mean age: 72.8), and medical treatment period ranged from one to twelve months. The technique involves the percutaneous puncture of the involved vertebra via a transpe...
